Ophelia is a 12 year old spayed female domestic short hair cat
who had a long history of frequent attempts to urinate and
urinating outside of her litter box. In this case repeated
urinalyses did not reveal any evidence of an underlying cause for
her behavior.
Xrays and ultrasound identified the presence of these 4 bladder
stones which were removed surgically. The top stone very much
resembled the head of a mace, a weapon of midieval time, looking
like a ball with many pointed spikes on it (attached to
a metal shaft and wooden handle). The smaller
stones were in the process of developing spikes as well.
